About Kira™ Purple Rain Forest Improved Heuchera hybrida

Kira™ Purple Rain Forest Improved is a compact coral bells selection bred by Danziger for foliage color and a neat, mounded habit. It reaches about 10 inches tall and 12 inches wide, with gray-green leaves edged in purple and white flowers ([Danziger](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/perennials_catalog/kira-purple-rain-forest-improved/), [ThinkPlants](https://www.thinkplants.com/plants/p/heuchera-hybrida-kiratrade-purple-rain-forest-improved)). ## Garden Use Large white flowers rise above the distinctive foliage in spring and summer, while the gray-green and purple leaf pattern carries color between blooms. Place it where the foliage can be seen close up, such as at the front of a border, beside a path, or in a roomy container. Danziger describes the Kira series for landscape and pot use, so the compact scale works in both planted beds and container groupings. ## Growing Conditions The Kira series is listed for part shade to full sun and USDA Zones 4–9. Choose well-drained soil and set the crown at the soil surface rather than burying it. Water regularly through establishment; after that, water during extended dry periods and check containers more often because their soil dries quickly. The [RHS heuchera growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/heuchera/growing-guide) gives general guidance on exposure, drainage, and watering. ## Maintenance Remove damaged leaves and faded flower stems when they affect the display. Mature clumps can be divided every three to four years if they become woody or lose vigor. For division timing and other general care, see [University of Vermont Extension](https://www.uvm.edu/extension/news/heuchera-versatile-landscape-plant).
