Create design onlineAbout NORTHERN EXPOSURE™ Silver Coral Bells
Heuchera NORTHERN EXPOSURE™ ‘Silver’ is a coral bells selection with a dense mound of burgundy-silver to silver foliage. Its pink flowers rise above the leaves through spring and summer, while the NORTHERN EXPOSURE™ breeding gives it a broad hardiness range for perennial borders and containers.
## Garden Use
The foliage mound is about 13 inches tall and 16 inches wide; flower stems reach about 24 inches. Use it in containers or mass plantings where the silvery leaves can contrast with darker foliage. Terra Nova lists USDA zones 3–10 and bloom from April through August ([cultivar details](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/heuchera-northern-exposure-silver/)).
## Growing Conditions
Grow in full sun, part shade, or full shade in moderately well-drained soil with organic matter. Keep new plants evenly watered; established plants prefer average moisture and should not stay wet. Set the crown at soil level so water drains away from it.
## Seasonal Interest
The silver and burgundy-silver leaves provide foliage color beyond the pink flowering period. Most coral bells benefit from trimming weathered leaves in early spring ([Iowa State Extension](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/article/2021/06/heuchera-or-coral-bells)).
## Maintenance
Remove damaged foliage in early spring and keep the crown uncovered. Water during establishment and hot spells, then avoid persistently wet soil.
