Red Lightning coral bells are grown for gold-toned leaves marked by vivid red veins, with white flower stems rising above the mound. Terra Nova identifies this exact selection and lists USDA Zones 4–9, foliage 11 inches tall by 16 inches wide, and flower stems to 18 inches ([Terra Nova](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/heuchera-red-lightning/); [Jung Seed](https://www.jungseed.com/product/J12342/766)).
## Garden Use
Use its bright foliage as an accent along a shaded border or in a mixed container. The foliage color holds through the season, while white flowers add a lighter vertical note in midsummer.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in part shade to full shade, in organic soil that drains freely. Keep the root zone evenly moist but not soggy; provide extra water in hot spells. Terra Nova reports average garden water needs and advises planting the crown high.
## Seasonal Interest
White flower spikes appear in July and August. The red-veined leaves remain the main display before and after flowering; Terra Nova describes the plant as evergreen.
## Maintenance
Remove winter-damaged leaves in early spring and cut back spent flower stems after bloom. Avoid fall shearing of healthy foliage, and check that the crown remains above the soil line.
