About Stormy Seas Coral Bells

Stormy Seas coral bells forms a vigorous, rounded mound of glossy, ruffled leaves that emerge maroon-purple and mature toward bronze-green, with vivid purple undersides. Cream-colored bells rise on dark stems in late spring to early summer. The breeder, [Terra Nova Nurseries](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/heuchera-stormy-seas/), gives this cultivar an 18 inch foliage height, a 36 inch spread, and USDA zones 4–9; [Rainyside](https://www.rainyside.com/plant_gallery/perennials/HeucheraStormySeas.html) also notes its broad landscape spread and May–June flowering. ## Garden Use Allow room for the mature clump in borders, mixed beds, or mass plantings. The dramatic foliage works as a low contrast plant near finer leaves, and the flower scapes add a seasonal accent above the mound. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Water regularly during establishment, then use average irrigation and avoid persistently soggy ground. The foliage can remain evergreen in mild climates. ## Maintenance Remove spent flower stalks and any damaged leaves when they detract from the plant. Leave healthy foliage in place through winter, then tidy the clump in early spring. Divide only if the crown becomes crowded.
