About Heuchera 'Sugar Plum'

Sugar Plum coral bells is a compact mound of foliage that changes with the seasons: leaves show deep plum and red-purple tones in spring and fall, then develop a silvery veil with purple highlights through summer and winter. Pink flower spikes rise above the foliage and can rebloom. [Terra Nova Nurseries](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/heuchera-sugar-plum/) lists a 12 inch foliage height, 18 inch width, 26 inch flower height, and zones 4–9; the original [plant patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP21857P2/en) also identifies the named cultivar and its heat and humidity tolerance. ## Garden Use Use Sugar Plum along a border edge, beneath taller shrubs, or in containers where its silvered foliage catches light. Leave space for the mound to broaden and for flower stems to rise above it. ## Growing Conditions Grow in part shade or full sun in organic, well-drained soil. Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged while plants establish; established plants can be allowed to dry moderately between waterings. Provide extra water during hot spells. ## Maintenance Trim winter-damaged leaves in early spring and remove spent flower stems if you do not want seed capsules. Keep mulch clear of the crown. Divide an older clump when it becomes congested or less vigorous.
