Heucherella 'Plum Cascade'

‘Plum Cascade’ is a Heucherella in Terra Nova’s CASCADE™ Series, grown for spreading, trailing mats of lobed purple-and-silver foliage. Small light-pink flowers rise above the leaves from May through October, and the low habit can soften a shaded border or spill from a container. ## Foliage and flowers Foliage reaches about 9 inches tall and 32 inches wide, with flower stems near 12 inches; the stem height is separate from the foliage measurement. The breeder lists USDA hardiness zones 4–10 and part shade to full shade. Humus-rich, well-drained soil and average garden moisture suit the plant. The series description notes that its trailing stems can root as they spread and that its flower spikes remain short and unobtrusive. ## Maintenance Water as needed to maintain average garden moisture while keeping the root zone well drained. Leave room for the mat to spread or trail over a container edge.
