About Pink Elephant Hibiscus

Pink Elephant is a named hardy hibiscus hybrid with very large, flat pink flowers, overlapping petals, pale rose veining and a deep red eye. It dies back to the ground in winter and returns late in spring, sometimes not until early summer; allow about 5–6 feet of height and 4–5 feet of spread. ([Sooner Plant Farm](https://www.soonerplantfarm.com/plant/hardy-hibiscus-pink-elephant/); [plant patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP21883P2/en)) ## Landscape Use Use Pink Elephant as an accent or specimen, or in a mass planting near a pond or other water feature. Flowers begin around mid-July, continue for at least 12 weeks and repeat in fall; each individual flower lasts one to two days. Leave room for the mature 5–6-foot height and 4–5-foot spread. It is a deciduous perennial, so its late emergence is part of its seasonal cycle. Remove dead canes in early spring and allow time for new growth to appear; the seller recommends feeding once a year with slow-release fertilizer.
