About Coelestis Rose of Sharon

Coelestis is a deciduous Rose of Sharon with single pale violet-lilac flowers, dark red centers and veins, and cream-colored stamens. The flowers appear from late summer into mid-autumn and may attract honeybees and bumblebees. ## Identity and Features The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/538918/hibiscus-syriacus-celestial-blue/details) identifies Rose of Sharon ‘Coelestis’ with the synonym ‘Celestial Blue’. It describes a shrub about 2.5 metres high and lists mature height and spread of 1.5–2.5 metres. The same source also records the name ‘Celestial Blue’ for this cultivar. ## Growing Plant in full sun in neutral, moist but well-drained soil. A sheltered position supports flowering and helps protect the shrub from harsh exposure. Leave space for its mature spread when placing it in a border or mixed shrub planting. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and in extended dry weather. Keep the root zone mulched with organic material, avoiding direct contact with the stems, and prune only as needed to remove damaged or crossing branches.
