Collie Mullens is a deciduous Rose of Sharon with bright green, oak-shaped leaves on slender upright branches. Its large, semi-double rose-pink flowers appear in summer and continue into fall, making it a strong flowering accent for a border or informal hedge.
## Features
The [Royal Horticultural Society cultivar profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/346683/hibiscus-syriacus-collie-mullens/details) gives mature height and spread ranges of 2.5–4 metres. [Park Seed’s plant listing](https://www.parkseed.com/products/hibiscus-collie-mullens-28918) describes the selection as a multi-stemmed, upright shrub, lists USDA Zones 5–9, and notes that it can be trained as a small tree or espalier.
## Growing
Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, organically rich, moderately moist, well-drained soil. Allow space for the mature canopy. This hardy shrub can be used alone, in groups, as a hedge, or at the back of a flower border.
## Maintenance
Water regularly while establishing and during prolonged dry weather. Prune to shape in late winter or early spring, retaining the upright framework and removing damaged branches.
