‘Splash’ is a double-flowered Hippeastrum with layered red and white petals. It is sold for indoor forcing, where the bulb may take about 12 weeks from potting to bloom, and it can also be grown outdoors in mild-winter regions.
## Flowering and use
The tapered petals sit one over another to create a bold bicolor display. [Colorblends](https://www.colorblends.com/wholesale/amaryllis/splash/) lists a 20–30 inch height and a winter indoor bloom period; the same supplier notes that established bulbs in suitable warm regions typically flower outdoors in spring. [Green Acres Nursery](https://idiggreenacres.com/collections/decor/products/amaryllis-splash) describes the cultivar as an indoor houseplant with red flowers and striped white throats.
## Growing conditions
Use a container for a winter display in colder climates. For outdoor planting, Colorblends lists USDA zones 8b–10b in the South and zone 10b on the West Coast; it recommends partial shade and well-drained soil. Water during dry spells in outdoor beds, while indoor bulbs should not sit in waterlogged mix.
## Seasonal display
Forcing brings flowers indoors during winter, while established garden bulbs in mild climates can flower in spring. The foliage is green and grows after flowering.
## Maintenance
After flowers fade, keep the foliage growing so the bulb can replenish its reserves. Allow the plant to enter dormancy and keep dormant bulbs on the dry side. Replant or resume watering when the next growth cycle begins.
