Create design onlineAbout Hollywood Hibiscus First to Arrive Tropical Hibiscus
First To Arrive™ is a named tropical hibiscus selection in the Hollywood Hibiscus collection. Its evergreen foliage, long warm-season flowering, and listed 4-foot height by 5-foot spread make it a colorful accent for a sunny garden or a large patio container.
## Flowering and garden use
The breeder lists First To Arrive for spring-through-frost flowering in warm conditions and recommends full sun. The 4-by-5-foot mature size gives it enough presence for a landscape bed while remaining suitable for a generously sized container. Plant it where its long bloom season can be enjoyed from a patio or garden path. [J. Berry Nursery](https://www.jberrynursery.com/portfolio/hollywood-hibiscus-first-to-arrive)
## Light, soil, and water
Choose a bright site with full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Hibiscus rosa-sinensis grows best with consistent moisture and humidity, but the soil should not remain saturated. Protect the plant from cold winds and frost; in climates outside its tropical hardiness range, a container makes seasonal shelter easier. ## Maintenance
Water regularly while the plant establishes, then keep the root zone from drying for long periods. Prune as needed to maintain its outline. The breeder recommends a year-round mulch layer and a single early-spring application of balanced or low-phosphorus slow-release fertilizer.
