Create design onlineAbout Hollywood Hibiscus Gold Digger Tropical Hibiscus
Hollywood Hibiscus Gold Digger™ is the same selection now marketed by its breeder as VIP™. It bears large burnt-orange flowers with a brownish tint that remain open for several days.
## Color and size
The patent describes upright growth and multi-day flowers; J. Berry lists the selection at about 4 feet tall by 5 feet wide, with flowering from spring until first frost in warm conditions. Keep the historic Gold Digger™ name connected to the current VIP™ trade name when labeling this plant. [J. ## Site and water
Grow this tropical hibiscus in full sun and rich, moist soil with good drainage. Water consistently as it establishes, and do not leave the root zone waterlogged. Tropical hibiscus is evergreen in warm climates; where winters are cold, use a container or seasonal planting so the plant can be protected from frost. ## Maintenance
Prune as needed to maintain the desired shape. J. Berry recommends a year-round mulch layer and balanced or low-phosphorus slow-release fertilizer once in early spring. Protect the plant from cold winds and move container-grown specimens to a warm sheltered space before frost.
