About Atlantis - Hosta

Hosta ‘Atlantis’ is a large, upright-mounding cultivar with dark green leaves edged by broad golden-yellow margins. The margins often show brighter color with more light, while pale lavender flowers rise above the foliage in midsummer. ## Plant profile Walters Gardens identifies Atlantis as a sport of ‘Abba Dabba Do’ and gives a foliage height of 30 inches with a spread of 70 inches. The flower scape reaches about 45 inches, so it stands above the foliage and should not be confused with the plant’s mature leaf height. The selection is listed for USDA zones 3–9 and part shade to full shade. ## Garden care Grow it in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Filtered or dappled light is suitable; morning sun may intensify the leaf margins, while hot afternoon sun can scorch hosta foliage. Use it as a specimen or a broad-leaved accent where the clump has room to mature. ## Maintenance Mulch to retain soil moisture and remove dead foliage after dormancy. Check leaves for slug feeding and keep the planting area clear of old foliage. [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HSATL)
