Hosta 'Color Festival' is a compact deciduous hosta with dark green leaf margins, creamy centers, and irregular yellow-green flashes. Pale purple flowers rise above the foliage in summer, adding seasonal color to a shaded planting.
## Garden profile
The RHS describes a clump-forming plant about 14 inches high, with a broad mature spread range that can reach beyond 36 inches; its published spread range is approximately 1.6–3.3 feet. The layered leaf colors are most visible in partial shade, where the plant can anchor a border edge, container, or ground-cover grouping. It grows in clay, loam, sand, or chalk when the soil remains moist but drains freely.
## Seasonal care
Give the root zone fertile soil and avoid letting it dry out for long periods. A spring mulch helps conserve moisture, and watering may be needed during dry spells. Pale purple flower clusters appear on upright stems in summer; divide established clumps in early spring or late summer if needed.
## Maintenance
Routine pruning is unnecessary. Remove spent stems or damaged foliage for tidiness, and divide only when a clump outgrows its space. [RHS cultivar profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/298787/hosta-color-festival-v/details)
