Hosta 'Dream Queen' is a deciduous, clump-forming perennial with corrugated blue-green leaves marked by irregular golden-yellow streaks. Near-white flowers with faint pale-purple markings appear on upright stems in early summer.
## Garden profile
The RHS lists a mature height range of about 4–20 inches and a spread of about 1.6–3.3 feet. Its patterned foliage makes a useful focal mound for a shaded border, woodland edge, or large container. It grows in clay, loam, sand, or chalk and prefers moist but well-drained soil with some shelter.
## Seasonal care
Full shade or partial shade is suitable, especially where the soil stays evenly moist without becoming waterlogged. Water during dry spells and give the clump room to expand. The leaves emerge in spring and carry the display through the growing season, while the lightly marked flower clusters rise in early summer.
## Maintenance
Divide an established clump in early spring or late summer when more plants are wanted or the center becomes crowded. Routine pruning is not required; clear dead leaves after they fade. [RHS cultivar profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/209110/hosta-dream-queen-v/details)
