About Flemish Sky - Hosta

Hosta ‘Flemish Sky’ is a compact, clump-forming cultivar with strongly blue-green, rippled leaves and a powdery surface. The American Hosta Society records a mound about 8.25 inches high and 15.75 inches across, with pale lavender flowers ([registration](https://www.hostaregistrar.org/search_item/1813)). ## Foliage and flowers The blue leaves are the main display, while pale lavender flowers rise above the foliage in summer. The Royal Horticultural Society describes the cultivar as a deciduous, clump-forming hosta with blue foliage and summer flowers ([RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/237394/hosta-flemish-sky/details)). ## Growing conditions Provide partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Its small mound fits a shaded border, a container, or the front of a hosta bed, where the blue foliage can contrast with gold or chartreuse leaves nearby. Leave room for the clump to widen as it matures. ## Maintenance Water during dry weather to maintain healthy foliage and remove damaged leaves as needed. Divide established clumps in spring or early summer if they become crowded, then keep new divisions evenly moist while they settle in.
