About Wide Brim - Hosta

Hosta ‘Wide Brim’ forms a leafy mound with dark green centers and broad yellow margins that mature toward creamy white. Pale lavender flowers appear in summer, and the cultivar is listed for USDA Zones 2–9. ## Foliage and setting Its contrasting leaf edge brightens a shaded border, woodland edge or other sheltered planting. Allow 16–18 inches of height and about 31–45 inches of spread. It grows in partial to full shade and tolerates loam, clay and sandy garden soils with average to moist conditions. Its foliage color and site range are described by [Perennials](https://www.perennials.com/plants/hosta-wide-brim.html), with further mature-size details from [Hosta Choice](https://www.hostachoicegardens.ca/en-ca/products/hosta-wide-brim). ## Seasonal interest The leaf margins change from yellow toward creamy white as the foliage develops. Pale lavender flowers rise above the clump in midsummer, adding a softer accent to the strongly patterned leaves. ## Maintenance Keep the root zone evenly moist through dry spells and remove old or damaged foliage as needed. Leave enough space for the mound to spread without crowding neighboring plants.
