About T-Rex - Hosta

Hosta 'T-Rex' forms a large deciduous mound of matte green leaves with deeply impressed veins. The Royal Horticultural Society describes it reaching 0.5–1 m tall and spreading 1.5–2.5 m, with loose clusters of near-white summer flowers on stems as high as 1 m. [Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/270315/hosta-t-rex/details) ## Foliage and placement Its broad, deeply veined leaves create a bold texture in a shaded border or architectural planting. The foliage forms a wide mound, while upright flower stems rise above it in summer. ## Growing conditions Choose partial or full shade and fertile soil that remains moist but drains well. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sand as suitable types and recommends shelter from cold, drying winds. Add mulch in spring and water during dry spells so the leaves do not wilt. ## Seasonal care The plant is deciduous and the leaves die back after the growing season. Near-white flowers are held in loose summer clusters. Slugs and snails may feed on hosta foliage, and virus diseases are possible. ## Maintenance No routine pruning is required. Remove dead foliage once it has died back and divide the clump in early spring or late summer if necessary.
