About Endless Summer® Pop Star® Bigleaf Hydrangea

Endless Summer® Pop Star® is a compact reblooming lacecap hydrangea with bright green foliage and blue or pink flower heads. Its fertile centers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, and the mounded plant grows about 18–36 inches tall and wide ([cultivar profile](https://endlesssummerhydrangeas.com/product/pop-star-reblooming-hydrangea/)). ## Size and placement The exact cultivar is Hydrangea macrophylla 'Bailmacsix', named in U.S. plant patent PP 33,703, issued in 2021 ([patent record](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP33703P2/en)). The breeder rates it for USDA Zones 4–9 and recommends morning sun with afternoon shade. Its compact size works in containers, along a walkway border, or as a low hedge. The lacecap flowers are useful for cut arrangements, too. ## Color and growth Flower color shifts between electric blue and bright pink with soil conditions. The plant blooms from top to bottom and reblooms through the season, so its small footprint still gives a long display. Use rich, well-drained soil; the breeder's guide recommends checking moisture first and watering deeply at the base when the soil begins to dry ([growing guide](https://endlesssummerhydrangeas.com/resource/meet-pop-star-hydrangea/)). ## Maintenance Avoid routine pruning to retain buds on old growth. In spring, remove only dead stems after new leaves appear. Faded flowers can be deadheaded during summer, stopping by mid-fall; protect the roots with mulch in colder gardens.
