About Endless Summer® Hydrangea Shrub

Endless Summer® The Original is a reblooming bigleaf hydrangea with mophead flowers that may be Nantucket blue or soft pink. It flowers from buds formed the previous year and again on current growth, extending the display beyond the first flush ([cultivar profile](https://endlesssummerhydrangeas.com/product/the-original-reblooming-hydrangea/)). ## Size and garden use This is Hydrangea macrophylla 'Bailmer', the named selection behind The Original; its U.S. plant patent PP 15,298 was issued in 2004 ([patent record](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP15298P3/en)). The rounded shrub is listed at 3–5 feet tall and wide and is suited to foundation plantings, containers, or cut-flower use. The breeder rates it for USDA Zones 4–9 and recommends morning sun with afternoon shade. Blue and pink flower color depends on soil conditions rather than the trade name alone. ## Soil and water Bigleaf hydrangeas perform best in rich, well-drained soil, with loam as a useful target. Keep the root zone moist but not saturated, especially during hot or dry weather; mulch helps conserve moisture. The cultivar's care profile lists medium-to-high watering and advises pruning after flowering ([planting guide](https://endlesssummerhydrangeas.com/resource/garden-gab-how-to-plant-hydrangeas/)). ## Maintenance Avoid fall pruning so developing buds remain in place. Remove faded flower heads after flowering.
