BloomStruck® is the Endless Summer® bigleaf hydrangea selection PIIHM-II. Its reblooming mophead flowers open rose-pink or blue-purple and can age toward rose-red, while dark-green leaves carry red petioles and veins.
## Landscape Use
At maturity, allow roughly 3–4 feet of height and 4–5 feet of spread. The long flowering window suits shrub borders and mixed perennial beds, while sturdy stems make the blooms useful for cutting. The breeder lists USDA Zones 4–9 and morning sun with afternoon shade. [Endless Summer’s cultivar page](https://endlesssummerhydrangeas.com/product/bloomstruck-reblooming-hydrangea/) describes this selection as flowering from early summer to frost; the [PP 25,566 patent record](https://patents.justia.com/patent/PP25566) confirms its denomination. Flower tone responds to soil pH and available aluminum, so test soil before trying to change bloom color.
## Growing Conditions
Give it morning light and afternoon protection, with fertile, well-drained soil that stays evenly moist. Hydrangea macrophylla can wilt quickly when dry; supplemental water is useful in heat. Its foliage and stems add contrast before and between bloom cycles, and the cultivar has documented resistance to powdery mildew. [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/hydrangea-macrophylla/) explains bigleaf hydrangea siting and the general pH-color relationship.
## Maintenance
This rebloomer flowers on both older stems and new growth. Avoid cutting it to the ground in fall; if shaping is needed, trim lightly after the first flush in summer so later buds remain. Remove spent flowers only when desired, and keep the root zone mulched and moist.
