About Blue Enchantress® Hydrangea

Blue Enchantress® is Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Monmar’, a deciduous, rounded shrub with dark stems and large mophead flower clusters. The flowers can be blue in acidic soil or pink in alkaline soil, then age to cream-splashed green; its cultivar patent describes an upright, outwardly spreading form and repeat flowering. ## Flowers and placement Monrovia lists a mature size of 3–5 ft tall and wide and spring flowering that repeats through summer. Filtered sun or partial shade and consistently moist, well-drained, organically rich soil suit it. Use it as a border accent, hedge, container shrub, or cut-flower plant. The [Monrovia plant profile](https://www.monrovia.com/blue-enchantress-hydrangea.html) supplies the growing and landscape details; the [plant patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP25209P2/en) documents the ‘Monmar’ selection. ## Maintenance Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season, then maintain even soil moisture without waterlogging. Mulch to conserve moisture and protect roots in harsh winters. Feed in early spring, remove spent flower heads if desired, and prune only dead or weak stems unless shaping is needed. Soil pH influences flower color, so change it only when you want to shift the display.
