Fire and Ice™ is sold under the cultivar name Hydrangea paniculata 'Wim's Red' (USPP26005). Its broad conical flower clusters open creamy white, shift through pink, then deepen to burgundy red against dark reddish stems and green foliage; the grower reports early-summer bloom, moderate growth, and a mature size of 3–6 ft high by 3–4 ft wide. ## Garden use
Use this deciduous selection as a compact flowering accent or in a mixed border; it also attracts butterflies and works as a cut flower. The patent describes strong stems and the white-to-pink-to-red progression. Panicle hydrangeas bloom on current-season growth and tolerate more sun than many hydrangeas; provide well-drained soil and regular moisture during establishment. ## Maintenance
Water regularly while the shrub establishes and during extended dry weather. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth lengthens, if shaping is needed. The new-wood bloom habit permits routine pruning at that time; mulch lightly over the roots and avoid persistently waterlogged soil.
