Sonic® Orange is an orange-to-peach/apricot color variety in the Sonic® New Guinea impatiens series, listed as product 70003742. Syngenta describes a compact-to-medium, mounding selection for shade gardens, with flowers from mid-spring through summer and dimensions of 10–14 inches tall and wide.
## Placement
Use this named selection in shaded or partly shaded containers and seasonal beds. The breeder lists full shade, part shade, and part sun, and recommends several container sizes, including larger baskets. North Carolina State Extension also describes New Guinea impatiens for patios, hanging baskets, borders, small groups, and mass plantings. The manufacturer’s “XL” flower description refers to flower size; it does not change the compact plant dimensions.
## Growing conditions
For New Guinea impatiens, partial shade and moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter are suitable. The species grows across a broader light range, but needs more water as sun exposure increases. The exact Sonic® Orange listing calls this a shade-garden product and specifies part sun as its brightest recommended exposure. ## Maintenance
Keep the growing medium evenly moist while maintaining good drainage. Check containers regularly in warm weather, water more often in sunnier exposures, and avoid standing water. Remove damaged stems when needed to keep the mound tidy.
