Sonic® Sweet Purple Impatiens

Sonic® Sweet Purple is an *Impatiens hawkeri* color variety in Syngenta’s Sonic® series, sold as product 70003806. The named selection has purple, lavender, and violet-toned flowers; Syngenta lists a mounding habit, 10–14-inch height and spread, and spring-to-summer flowering ([Syngenta Flowers](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70003806)). ## Selection and use This is the Sonic® Sweet Purple selection and code 70003806, not a Super Sonic product. Syngenta describes Sonic plants as compact and suited to pot-tight production, and lists this selection in a 1-quart to 3-quart container range. It is offered as URC and has a listed hardiness of zone 11a; the page also identifies full shade, part shade, and part sun exposure. ## Garden placement For *Impatiens hawkeri* generally, [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-hawkeri/) describes a mounding annual that performs best in partial shade and moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. The species tolerates a broader light range, but more sun increases water demand. NC State notes butterflies visit the species and that it blooms from spring through fall; Syngenta’s selection-specific timing is mid-spring, late spring, and summer. ## Maintenance Keep the rooting area evenly moist but well drained, checking containers often during warm weather. Partial shade supports reliable flowering while reducing the extra watering needed in brighter exposures. Treat it as a seasonal annual in cold-winter gardens; the exact product listing gives USDA hardiness zone 11a ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-hawkeri/); [Syngenta Flowers](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70003806)).
