Solarscape® White Shimmer Interspecific Impatiens

Solarscape® White Shimmer is a seed-propagated interspecific impatiens with dense foliage and a mounding habit. Its satiny white flowers may show a small pink center, while buds and petals may carry a very pale blush. It is described as flowering from late spring through late summer and suited to full sun or part shade in [Park Seed’s product profile](https://www.parkseed.com/products/solarscape-white-shimmer-interspecific-impatiens-seeds-54066). ## Growing Conditions Place it in humus-rich soil that stays moist but drains well. The selection is listed for beds, borders, containers, and hanging baskets, and can brighten dappled-light places near trees. A product listing gives a mature size of about 11 inches tall and 20 inches wide ([Park Seed](https://www.parkseed.com/products/solarscape-white-shimmer-interspecific-impatiens-seeds-54066)). ## Trial Notes Penn State University’s 2023 sun-container trial recorded an average score of 4.92 out of 5 across 12 ratings for this named White Shimmer seed selection. The score reflects that trial site and setup, not guaranteed performance in every garden ([Penn State Flower Trials](https://agsci.psu.edu/flower-trials/trial-year/2023/plant-name/impatiens-hybrida-solarscape-white-shimmer)). ## Maintenance Water regularly to keep the root area moist, while avoiding poorly drained soil, and protect plants from strong winds. If raising from seed, transplant outdoors in spring after frost danger has passed ([Park Seed](https://www.parkseed.com/products/solarscape-white-shimmer-interspecific-impatiens-seeds-54066)).
