About Infinity Light Purple Impatiens

Infinity® Light Purple is the trade name for New Guinea impatiens ‘Visinflipu’. The Proven Winners Infinity sheet identifies the selection as USPP16227 and Canadian certificate 2286, and describes the series as upright, with dark green foliage, large flowers, and a 10–14 inch height. It also lists 6–8 inches as planting spacing, not mature spread ([Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/sites/provenwinners.com/files/pdf/sell-sheets/InfinityTipSheet-12.pdf)). ## Garden Use Use it in containers or landscape plantings in partial shade to shade, as the Infinity series sheet recommends. NC State’s species profile also lists baskets, patios, borders, foundation planting, small groups, and mass planting among uses for New Guinea impatiens ([Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/sites/provenwinners.com/files/pdf/sell-sheets/InfinityTipSheet-12.pdf); [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-hawkeri/)). ## Soil and Water Plant in moist, well-drained soil with organic matter. NC State notes that the species can grow from full sun to deep shade, performs best in partial shade, and needs more water in sunnier sites ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-hawkeri/)). ## Bloom The species blooms from spring through fall; timing varies with climate and growing conditions ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-hawkeri/)). ## Maintenance The Infinity sheet describes its varieties as self-cleaning, so deadheading is unnecessary. It lists 35°F (2°C) as a hardy temperature; this is a temperature rating for the series, not a USDA zone ([Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/sites/provenwinners.com/files/pdf/sell-sheets/InfinityTipSheet-12.pdf)).
