About Harmony™ Bold Red Impatiens new Guinea

Harmony® Bold Red is a mounded New Guinea impatiens with large red flowers. Danziger lists early flowering and a garden size of 14–18 inches tall by 12–14 inches wide. Pots, hanging baskets, and landscape beds are listed uses, making this a compact option for seasonal color. ## Flowers and form The Bold Red selection belongs to Danziger’s Harmony® series. The breeder describes large flowers, early flowering, an easy-to-grow production habit, and a long display of color. Its named red selection is distinct from Harmony® Bicolor Red, Deep Red, Dark Lilac, and other colors in the series. ## Site and planting Danziger lists pots, hanging baskets, and landscape use. NC State Extension describes New Guinea impatiens as an annual that grows from full sun to deep shade but performs best in partial shade and moist, well-drained soil with organic matter. Sunny sites need more water. The extension lists USDA zones 10a–12b for New Guinea impatiens; Danziger’s 14–18-inch height and 12–14-inch spread are the selection-specific dimensions. ## Sources [Danziger Harmony® Bold Red](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/annuals/harmony-bold-red/); [NC State Extension: Impatiens hawkeri](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-hawkeri/). ## Maintenance Keep the growing medium evenly moist, increasing water when plants receive more sun. Remove spent flowers and damaged foliage to keep beds and containers tidy. The species is described as resistant to downy mildew; inspect plants periodically during humid weather.
