About Athena™ Orange Impatiens

Athena™ Orange is an F1 Impatiens walleriana selection in Floranova’s Athena series, listed as product 70091959. The series is described as semi-double and mounding to spreading, with a 2024–25 catalog size of 25–30 cm high by 30–40 cm wide and sun/shade exposure; an earlier 2021 catalog lists the orange offering as IMP724 and series dimensions of 10–12 in. high by 14–16 in. wide ([2024–25 Floranova catalog](https://online.flippingbook.com/view/347624970/20/); [2021 Athena catalog](https://online.flippingbook.com/view/148732551)). ## Site & Size Grow it in part shade to full shade and moist, well-drained soil amended with organic matter. NC State notes that Impatiens walleriana can handle partly sunny spots when water is adequate, but too much sun may scorch leaves; hot, dry spells increase water needs and poor drainage can cause rot ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/)). ## Flowering & Use Athena’s semi-double blooms and spreading habit suit hanging baskets. NC State lists the species’ flowering period as late spring, summer, and early fall; timing varies with local growing conditions. ## Maintenance Keep the soil moist without overwatering. Provide extra water during hot, dry spells, and trim leggy growth by about one-third in late summer to encourage fresh blooms and improve the plant’s shape.
