Create design onlineAbout Beacon® Bright Red Impatiens
Beacon® Bright Red is an F1 Impatiens walleriana selection with mounded, upright growth and red flowers. PanAmerican Seed lists it at 14–18 inches high by 12–14 inches wide, with shade to partial-sun exposure and high resistance to common Impatiens downy mildew populations; resistance is not immunity ([PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/034701686004472/impatiens-beacon-bright-red/)).
## Site & Size
Grow Beacon in shade or partial sun, in moist, well-drained soil. Iowa State University Extension recommends partial shade for impatiens and consistent moisture with good drainage ([Iowa State University Extension](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/growing-impatiens-home-garden)).
## Flowering & Use
The breeder lists spring through late-summer flowering and a mounded, upright habit. Use this bedding selection in packs, pots, hanging baskets, or in-ground beds, where its red flowers brighten shaded entries and borders.
## Maintenance
Keep the root zone evenly moist without waterlogging it, and check container soil regularly during warm, windy weather. Monitor for downy mildew even though Beacon has high resistance to common populations.
