Beacon® Lindau Mixture is an original Beacon impatiens blend bred for strong color in shaded plantings. PanAmerican Seed introduced this 2023 mix under the Lindau Lighthouse name and listed orange, white, and violet shades in the blend. ## Color and garden use
The three colors are components in one mixture, rather than a single uniform flower color. PanAmerican’s 2023 Beacon guide gives the series a 14–18 inch height and 12–14 inch spread; the current record already carries those size labels. The guide recommends the mix for packs, pots, hanging baskets, and in-ground beds, and describes the lighthouse mixes as trialed to look vibrant in shade. ## Site and disease
Iowa State Extension identifies Impatiens walleriana as a bedding plant for containers, hanging baskets, and beds. It performs best in partial shade and moist, well-drained soil; heavier shade is possible, though plants may bloom less profusely. PanAmerican reports high genetic resistance in Beacon to widely prevalent impatiens downy mildew populations, while noting that Beacon is not immune. ## Maintenance
Plant after frost danger has passed. Keep the soil moist and well drained, and check container plantings during dry weather because they can need more frequent watering than garden beds. Continue routine monitoring for impatiens downy mildew; resistance does not mean immunity.
