About Beacon® Salmon Impatiens

Beacon® Salmon is a bedding impatiens selected for salmon flowers and seasonal color in shaded sites. The [breeder’s product page](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/034701686004844/impatiens-beacon-salmon/) lists 14–18 inches tall, 12–14 inches wide, a mounded to upright habit, and flowering from spring through late summer. It suits shade or partial sun; the breeder reports high resistance to widely prevalent impatiens downy mildew (IDM) populations while stating that plants are not immune. ## Garden use Use it in containers, hanging baskets, and in-ground beds where a compact flowering plant is useful. The breeder also lists packs and pots for production. ## Growing conditions Choose shade or partial sun. Keep soil moist, well-drained, and enriched with organic matter; [NC State Extension’s guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/) notes that plants need extra water during hot or dry spells. [Kew’s taxonomic record](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn%3Alsid%3Aipni.org%3Anames%3A374419-1) accepts *Impatiens walleriana* in the family Balsaminaceae. ## Maintenance Water through hot or dry weather to maintain even moisture, while allowing excess water to drain. Monitor plants for downy mildew; resistance does not guarantee immunity.
