About Dazzler® Orange Impatiens

‘Dazzler® Orange’ is the orange-flowered selection in PanAmerican Seed’s Dazzler® F1 impatiens series. The breeder’s 2016 catalogue lists Orange among the series colors and gives a historical series profile of 9–11 inches tall and 13–15 inches wide, with blooms until frost, controlled manageable vigor, and use in packs, 4-inch pots, and baskets. [PanAmerican Seed 2016 catalogue](https://www.panamseed.com/documents/catalogs/14520_PASKieft_2016Catalog-LowRes.pdf) ## Flowers and growth The catalogue describes freely flowering, well-matched colors and 1.5-inch blooms. NC State Extension describes Impatiens walleriana generally as a fast-growing, dense, mounding or clumping plant with flowers from late spring until the first fall frost. [NC State Extension: Impatiens walleriana](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/) ## Growing conditions Grow in part shade to full shade. Use moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter; the species profile notes slightly acidic soil. In partly sunny sites, provide adequate water, and give extra water during hot, dry spells. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to rot. The species profile lists USDA zones 10–11; in colder climates, impatiens are commonly grown as annual bedding plants. ## Maintenance If plants become leggy in late summer, trim back the top third to encourage fresh growth and improve their appearance. Use in bedding, packs, containers, or baskets, and keep the root zone evenly moist without leaving it saturated.
