Dazzler® Scarlet brings clear scarlet-red flowers to a low-growing annual bedding impatiens with dark-green foliage. The Dazzler® series is listed at 9–11 inches tall and 13–15 inches wide, with colors that bloom together and continue until frost. ## Placement and growing
Use this selection in a partially shaded border or bed, container, or hanging basket. The breeder describes the series as uniform and quick to fill. Iowa State Extension recommends moist, well-drained soil; filtered light for a few hours or morning sun with afternoon shade usually suits garden impatiens. Heavy shade is possible, though plants may grow taller and flower less. [Iowa State Extension](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/growing-impatiens-home-garden)
## Disease considerations
Garden impatiens (I. walleriana) are susceptible to impatiens downy mildew, so the resistance of unrelated New Guinea or XDR selections should not be assumed for Dazzler® Scarlet. Space plants for airflow, avoid overhead watering, and inspect foliage for yellowing, curling, or fuzzy white growth beneath leaves. Wisconsin Extension advises removing symptomatic plants, sealing them in a bag, and discarding them rather than composting. ## Maintenance
Keep the soil moist but well drained. Check containers frequently and water when the surface dries; water beds during dry spells. Maintain spacing and water at soil level to reduce conditions that favor disease.
