Imara® XDR Mix Impatiens

Imara® XDR Mix is Syngenta’s Impatiens walleriana selection numbered 70082997. The breeder describes it as a mounding plant for full or partial shade, 10–12 inches tall and wide, with a high degree of resistance to impatiens downy mildew ([Syngenta Flowers product page](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70082997)). ## Site & Size Position it in full or partial shade where soil stays evenly moist and drains well. Iowa State University Extension recommends partial shade for garden impatiens and notes that plants in brighter exposures need more frequent watering ([Iowa State University Extension](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/growing-impatiens-home-garden)). Syngenta describes compact branching and a mounding habit for the selection. ## Disease Resistance Syngenta cautions that Imara XDR has high resistance to Impatiens downy mildew (IDM), but is not immune. Check plants regularly for symptoms, including during humid weather. ## Maintenance Maintain even soil moisture without leaving roots in standing water. Check packs and pots frequently because small containers can dry faster than garden beds.
