Imara® XDR Orange is a seed-raised *Impatiens walleriana* selection for color in shaded gardens. The [Syngenta Flowers product page](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70078042) identifies Orange as product 70078042, lists a mounding habit and a garden height and width of 10–12 inches, and reports flowers from late spring through summer. The breeder reports a high degree of resistance to impatiens downy mildew (IDM), while stating that plants are not immune.
## Garden use
Use it for seasonal color in shaded beds or containers. Syngenta lists packs, pots, landscapes, and hanging baskets as product uses.
## Growing conditions
The product page gives full- or part-shade exposure. At species level, [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/) recommends moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter and notes that plants may need extra water in hot or dry spells. [Kew’s taxonomic record](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn%3Alsid%3Aipni.org%3Anames%3A374419-1) accepts *Impatiens walleriana* in Balsaminaceae.
## Maintenance
Keep soil evenly moist while allowing excess water to drain. Check containers during warm or dry weather and water as needed. Monitor for downy mildew; resistance does not guarantee immunity.
