Imara® XDR Pastel Mix Impatiens

Imara® XDR Pastel Mix is a mounding annual impatiens for shaded beds and containers, with flowers listed for late spring and summer. [Syngenta identifies this selection by name and product code](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70098828), lists it at 10–12 inches tall and wide, and rates it for full or part shade and hardiness zones 9a–11a. ## Placement Use it at the front of a shade border or in a container where its compact mound can fill space. [Iowa State’s impatiens guidance](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/growing-impatiens-home-garden) recommends partial shade and moist, well-drained soil; it describes walleriana bedding impatiens as suitable for beds, containers, and hanging baskets. Heavy shade is tolerated, though flowering can be less abundant. ## Growing notes Syngenta describes the Imara XDR line as having a high degree of resistance to downy mildew. Resistance is not immunity, so continue to monitor plants during the season. The compact 10–12-inch profile suits smaller shaded spaces without overwhelming nearby plants. ## Maintenance Keep the root zone evenly moist while allowing excess water to drain. Check containers during warm or dry weather, since pots can dry faster than garden beds. Water when the soil begins to dry and avoid leaving the plant in standing water.
