Imara XDR Pink Impatiens

Imara® XDR Pink (Syngenta product 70085088) is an *Impatiens walleriana* selection with pink/rose blooms and a mounding habit. Syngenta's [product profile](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70085088) lists a garden height and width of 10–12 inches, full or part shade, and late-spring and summer flowering; it reports high downy-mildew resistance while stating that plants are not immune. ## Planting and Culture Syngenta lists packs, containers, hanging baskets, and landscape use for this selection. North Carolina State Extension's [walleriana profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/) describes the species as dense and mounding, best in part shade to full shade and moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Plants in sunnier sites need adequate water, and overwatering can cause rot. The breeder gives a hardiness range of zones 9a–11a. The row's 0.28-meter height and width retain the rounded midpoint of the listed 10–12-inch ranges. ## Maintenance Keep the soil moist but well drained, adding water during hot, dry weather and avoiding waterlogging. Place the plant where shade suits its growth and check leaves regularly for signs of disease; its downy-mildew resistance reduces risk but does not confer immunity. In cold climates, grow it as a seasonal annual or move containers indoors before frost.
