Imara® XDR Purple is a compact, mounding garden impatiens with violet flowers and dependable late-spring and summer color. Syngenta lists selection 70078047 at 10–12 inches tall and wide for part shade to full shade in zones 9a–11a ([product details](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70078047)).
## Placement
Use this cultivar in shaded borders, containers, or grouped plantings where its rounded form can fill the front or middle of a seasonal display. Keep the soil evenly moist and well drained, adding organic matter where needed; common garden impatiens perform best in those conditions ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/)).
## Flowering
The breeder describes reliable flowering through the season and a high degree of resistance to impatiens downy mildew. Flowers begin in late spring and continue through summer, while the compact branching habit suits packs and small pots. Its mildew resistance is useful in humid shade, but still provide air movement and avoid leaving foliage wet overnight.
## Maintenance
Water when the soil begins to dry, especially in containers and warm weather. Remove damaged stems and spent flowers when needed to keep the mound tidy; regular deadheading is not required for the cultivar to remain useful in a seasonal planting.
