Imara® XDR Red is a mounding annual impatiens with red flowers, listed for late spring and summer. [Syngenta’s product page](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70078040) identifies code 70078040 and gives a compact 10–12-inch height and spread for full or part shade and hardiness zones 9a–11a.
## Placement
Plant it at a shaded border edge, in a bedding group, or in a container where its compact mound can fill a small space. [Iowa State’s impatiens guidance](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/growing-impatiens-home-garden) recommends partial shade and moist, well-drained soil; it also identifies I. walleriana as a bedding plant suited to beds, containers, and hanging baskets. Heavy shade works, though flowering may be less abundant.
## Growing notes
Syngenta describes the Imara XDR line as having a high degree of resistance to downy mildew. Resistance is not immunity, so continue to monitor plants during the season. The breeder lists flowering from late spring through summer.
## Maintenance
Keep the root zone evenly moist while allowing excess water to drain. Check containers during warm or dry weather, since pots can dry faster than garden beds. Water when the soil begins to dry and avoid leaving the plant in standing water.
