Imara® XDR Rose Impatiens

Imara® XDR Rose is a Syngenta *Impatiens walleriana* selection in its Imara® XDR series, product 70072423. Syngenta’s [product profile](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70072423) lists Rose as its color variety, a mounding habit, full or part shade, and flowering in late spring and summer. ## Selection and use The product profile gives a garden height and width of 10–12 inches and lists packs and pot sizes as recommended production formats. It also describes reliable landscape performance and reports a high degree of downy mildew resistance for the Imara XDR series; resistance is not immunity. ## Growing conditions [The North Carolina Extension Gardener Plant Toolbox](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/) describes I. walleriana as a shade flowering plant that prefers partial to full shade and moist, well-drained, organic-rich soil. It may grow in some sun with sufficient water, while too much sun can scorch its leaves. Hot, dry spells can raise watering needs, and overwatering can lead to rot. ## Maintenance Keep the root area moist but freely draining and check moisture during hot, dry weather. In late summer, if growth becomes leggy, NC State recommends trimming back the top third to encourage new blooms and improve appearance.
