Super Elfin® XP Pink Impatiens

Super Elfin® XP Pink is a pink selection in PanAmerican Seed’s Super Elfin XP impatiens line. The breeder’s 2010 sheet lists XP Pink, and the 2016 catalog gives the XP series a height of 8–10 inches and a spread of 12–14 inches ([2010 product sheet](https://www.panamseed.com/controls/MarketingPDF.aspx?blobid=541), [2016 catalog](https://www.panamseed.com/documents/catalogs/14520_PASKieft_2016Catalog-LowRes.pdf)). ### Site and soil Use this shade-loving annual in planters, hanging baskets, containers, or massed along shady borders. Impatiens walleriana grows best in partial to full shade in moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic material at slightly acidic pH ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/)). ### Season and care The species flowers from late spring until the first fall frost and is hardy in USDA zones 10–11; in colder climates it is grown as a warm-season annual. Water during hot, dry periods while avoiding saturated soil. If plants become leggy late in summer, trim them back to encourage fresh growth and blooms ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/)). ## Maintenance Keep the root zone evenly moist without leaving it waterlogged, and increase watering during heat or sunnier exposure. Trim leggy stems in late summer; outside USDA zones 10–11, replace plants after frost.
