Super Elfin® XP White is a named Impatiens walleriana selection in PanAmerican Seed’s Super Elfin XP series. PanAmerican lists White XP and gives the series an 8–10 inch height and a 12–14 inch spread ([official series catalog](https://www.panamseed.com/controls/MarketingPDF.aspx?blobid=361)).
## Placement and bloom
Use this compact, mounding bedding impatiens to bring white flowers to shaded containers, hanging baskets, borders, or mass plantings. NC State Extension describes I. walleriana blooming from late spring through summer into early fall; this species-wide season complements the breeder’s series-size profile ([NC State species profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/)).
## Growing conditions
Site in part to full shade. Some sun is tolerated when water is adequate, but too much sun may scorch the foliage. Plant in moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic material and slightly acidic in reaction. Keep the root zone evenly moist during hot, dry spells without allowing it to become saturated. NC State Extension lists the species as hardy in USDA zones 10–11 and describes it as a tropical perennial there, commonly grown as an annual in colder gardens.
## Maintenance
Water when the soil begins to dry and avoid overwatering. In late summer, trim up to one third of leggy growth to refresh the plant and encourage new blooms. In cold-winter areas, grow it as an annual or bring a container indoors before frost.
