Use it in shaded containers, patio displays, or massed annual beds. ## Light and soil NC State Extension describes Impatiens walleriana as a shade-flowering plant that performs best in part to full shade and moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic material. It notes that hot, dry spells can cause wilting and increase watering needs. [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/) ## Maintenance Keep the root zone evenly moist while allowing excess water to drain, and check moisture more often in warm, dry weather. Avoid letting the soil dry out between waterings.
