Sweet Georgia® Heart Purple is an ornamental sweetpotato vine in the Sweet Georgia series. The [patent record](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP32057P2/en) identifies cultivar ‘ISGHP05-2’ and describes dark greyed-purple, heart-shaped foliage on a semi-compact center that trails as it matures. Patent PP32,057 was granted on August 11, 2020, and describes the selection for ornamental container and garden use.
## Form and Use
The patent reports an 18 cm height and 45 cm spread for a 20-week specimen grown in a one-gallon greenhouse container; those are trial measurements, not mature-size bounds. It also describes dense growth and free branching. The cultivar’s center mounds while mature growth trails outward.
## Light and Moisture
Green Fuse’s [Sweet Georgia crop-culture report](https://green-fuse.com/new/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Ipomoea-Sweet-Georgia%C2%AE.pdf) recommends full sun and evenly moist media for the series. It notes established vines can dry quickly as leaf area expands and lists mixed containers, window boxes, and baskets as uses.
## Maintenance
The crop sheet says pinching is not needed in four- to six-inch pots and may be used in larger containers. Avoid moisture stress, which can slow development and yellow leaves, and check regularly for aphids and whiteflies.
