Sweet Georgia® Pulse Black is a named ornamental sweet potato vine in the Sweet Georgia series. Its selection application identifies denomination ISGBE15-1 and describes glossy, dark greyed-purple palmate leaves with jagged margins and a dense, semi-compact mound. The [selection record](https://patents.justia.com/patent/20260271813) documents the exact selection, while [Green Fuse’s Sweet Georgia profile](https://green-fuse.com/new/ipomoea-sweet-georgia/) covers the wider series.
## Appearance and uses
The dark foliage provides contrast in outdoor containers and garden plantings. The application reports that flowering was not observed during its greenhouse trial, so foliage is the well-documented ornamental feature. Its trial measurements came from a six-inch pot and should not be read as mature landscape dimensions.
## Growing conditions
NC State Extension describes *Ipomoea batatas* as suited to full sun or partial shade in well-drained, organically rich soil. Green Fuse recommends full sun and evenly moist production media for the broader Sweet Georgia series; in garden beds or containers, keep soil evenly moist without leaving roots waterlogged. See the [NC State species guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/ipomoea-batatas/) and the [Green Fuse culture sheet](https://green-fuse.com/new/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Ipomoea-Sweet-Georgia%C2%AE.pdf).
## Maintenance
Allow the mound room to develop, then pinch or trim shoots to maintain the desired outline. Check container soil regularly during warm weather and water when it begins to dry.
