‘Abiqua Falls’ is a tall bearded iris introduced by Schreiner in 2003. It stands about 39 inches at bloom time and flowers midseason, with heavily ruffled light-blue blooms and yellow beards tipped blue.
## Growing Conditions
Provide at least half a day of sun; six hours or more of full sun supports flowering in most climates, while some shade can help in very hot areas. Bearded irises need well-drained garden soil; plant the rhizome shallowly, with its top exposed and roots directed down. Spacing of 12–24 inches allows room for clumps, but this is planting distance rather than mature width. See Schreiner's [bearded iris planting guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-do-i-plant-bearded-iris).
## Seasonal Interest
The cultivar record places Abiqua Falls in midseason bloom and describes a light-blue self with heavily ruffled petals and yellow beards tipped blue. It records Honorable Mention in 2005 and the Award of Merit in 2007; local climate shifts calendar timing.
## Maintenance
After all buds finish, cut bloom stalks close to the base, leave healthy leaves through summer, remove diseased or brown leaves, and trim foliage to about six inches in fall. Keep beds free of weeds and debris, and divide crowded clumps every three to five years.
