About Bearded Iris 'Bellini'

‘Bellini’ is a tall-bearded iris introduced by Schreiner in 2017, with 33-inch stems and late bloom. Its pale-pink standards frame lavender falls that open and fade toward pink, accented by orange beards. ## Garden setting Plant this named *Iris germanica* selection in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. It may still bloom with part-day shade, but full sun is preferred. Set the rhizome at soil level or cover it lightly, and do not mulch. The tall flower stems suit perennial borders and cutting gardens. ## Water and seasonal care Established bearded irises tolerate dry conditions but are vulnerable to swampy soil and root rot. The [American Iris Society entry](https://wiki.irises.org/TbAthruE/TbBellini) records Bellini’s height, late bloom, and flower pattern. The [NC State Extension bearded iris guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/iris-x-germanica/) recommends early-spring fertilizing, removing faded blooms, and dividing crowded clumps in mid- to late summer after flowering. ## Maintenance Remove affected roots and foliage if iris borer appears, and clear old leaves from the bed at season’s end. Divide crowded plants after flowering and keep the rhizomes unmulched.
