About Bearded Iris 'Beverly Sills'

‘Beverly Sills’ is a tall bearded iris introduced by Hager in 1979. The [American Iris Society’s Iris Encyclopedia records it at 36 inches (91 cm), midseason, with laced coral-pink flowers and a tangerine beard](https://wiki.irises.org/TbAthruE/TbBeverlySills). ## Flowers The cultivar’s listed display is a laced coral-pink self with a tangerine beard. The encyclopedia also records rebloom reports from several locations in its 2022 checklist; those reports describe observed performance, not guaranteed repeat flowering. ## Site and soil The AIS cultural notes for tall bearded irises prefer full sun, while noting that plants may still bloom with half-day shade. They favor well-drained garden soil, tolerate dry conditions once established, and do not tolerate swampy sites. These notes describe the Tall Bearded group rather than measured conditions for every garden. ## Hardiness The same page gives zones 4–8 for most varieties and notes that some cultivars differ. That group-level range is not a cultivar-specific hardiness rating, so no USDA zone is assigned here. Use local observation and the selected iris’s growing conditions rather than treating rebloom locations as a hardiness guarantee. ## Maintenance Choose a site that drains well and leave the rhizome area out of standing water. The linked cultivar page does not set a watering interval or pruning schedule; maintain the planting according to local conditions and the tall-bearded group’s drainage preference.
