‘Forever Blue’ is a standard dwarf bearded iris (SDB) with light blue-violet flowers and medium violet-blue beards. The [American Iris Society profile](https://wiki.irises.org/Sdb/SdbForeverBlue) records a 12-inch height, early bloom, and rebloom; it does not give a repeat-bloom date.
At about 12 inches tall, it fits toward the front of a border or beside a path. In most climates, give it at least six hours of full sun and well-drained soil; light shade may help in extremely hot areas. For planting, spread the roots downward, leave the rhizome top exposed, and water to settle the soil, following [Schreiner's planting guidance](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-do-i-plant-bearded-iris).
## Growing notes
Keep new plantings moist while roots establish. Once established, bearded irises usually need additional water only in arid areas; see [Schreiner's care guidance](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-to-grow-care-for-bearded-iris).
## Maintenance
Thin or divide clumps before they become overcrowded, generally every 3–5 years. [Schreiner's division guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-do-i-divide-and-transplant-bearded-iris) recommends July–September, adjusted to location.
